Carpet Dyeing & Color Repair

Bleach spills, hair dye, acne cream and sun fading are color loss, not stains. Cleaning cannot fix them. Dyeing can, and we have done it for thirty years.

How we do it

Dyeing & Color Repair, the way the fiber calls for.

Bleach, benzoyl peroxide acne cream, hair dye, some pet urine and years of sun through a window do the same thing: they strip the color out of the fiber. No amount of cleaning brings it back, because there is nothing to clean. The color has to be put back.

This is the work most cleaners will not touch. When a spot has lost its color, we mix dye on site to match the surrounding carpet and restore it by hand. Done properly, you should not be able to find the repair afterwards. We also fix previous dye attempts that came out the wrong color.

It is almost always cheaper than replacing a room of carpet for one white spot near the bathroom vanity.

Step by step

What happens on the visit.

  1. 01

    Assess the fiber

Nylon and wool take dye. Polyester and olefin mostly do not. We confirm what you have before promising a result.

  2. 02

    Match the color

Dye is mixed on site against the surrounding carpet, in your light, not from a chart.

  3. 03

    Apply by hand

The dye is worked into the affected fibers and blended out into the surrounding pile.

  4. 04

    Set and check

The repair is set, groomed and checked from standing height and from the floor. We also leave you a spot out bottle for touch-ups, and we refill it free the next time we're out.

Honest pricing

Quoted for your job, before we show up.

Dye repairs are quoted by phone or from a photo. Most single spots cost far less than replacing the carpet in that room. Real ranges, not teaser rates. Every home is different — square footage and carpet condition change the number. Call and a real person gives you an honest price before we ever show up, not a surprise when the technician is already in your driveway.

Questions

Common questions

Can every carpet be dyed?

No. Nylon and wool take dye well. Polyester, olefin and other solution-dyed fibers generally do not, because the color is built into the fiber. We identify the fiber first and tell you honestly.

Will the repair match exactly?

That is the goal, and usually the result. Dye is mixed against your carpet in your lighting. Some sun-faded or heavily worn carpet has texture differences that remain visible even when the color matches.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the size and number of spots, but a typical bleach spot is a small fraction of replacing the carpet. Call or send a photo and we will give you a price.

Will it wash out?

No. Carpet dye bonds to the fiber permanently and survives normal cleaning.

Ready when you are.

Call the office and we'll find a time that works. Most homes are cleaned in a single visit.
