How we do it

When cleaning isn't enough.

Most of what we clean comes out with normal hot-water extraction. Specialty stain removal is for the spot that doesn't: the one that has been there since the holidays, the one somebody already scrubbed, the one the rental machine made bigger. It is a separate line on the quote from the cleaning itself, and it is the work we have built our reputation on.

Red stains are the ones people call about most: red wine on the dining room carpet, fruit punch on the stairs, or the multi-color mess left behind by an art project. Coffee and the brown ring under a potted plant each get their own treatment. Water stains, the tide-line rings left when a spill or a leak dries unevenly, are something we work on constantly. Wood stains are different again: they come from wood furniture and furniture legs reacting with moisture on a damp carpet, and they take a specific approach. Rust from a metal chair leg or a plant stand needs another one entirely, which is exactly why we look first.

Then there are the stains that are not dirt at all. They have bonded to the fiber. Nail polish, hair dye, paint, ink and makeup are dyes and pigments that have attached themselves to the carpet, and candle wax has to be lifted out of the pile before anything underneath can be treated. Burns are trimmed, patched or repaired depending on the specific damage, under Carpet Repair. Bleach is the reverse problem, color taken out rather than put in, and it is corrected by dyeing the fiber back to match.

Most pet stains and odors are removable too, though coverage depends on how deep the damage has gone into the pad. Our pet stain page explains that in detail.

We keep a technician on the crew who specializes in stain work and has spent decades on exactly this. It is why the second-opinion calls come to us, and why we will tell you plainly when something is not going to come out.

Before we start, you will know three things: what is involved, what it costs, and whether it is guaranteed. You decide. Pay for specialty stain removal and that spot is covered for 30 days, with a spot out bottle left behind for anything that wicks back as the carpet dries.

Honest pricing

Quoted for your job, before we show up.

Specialty stain work is quoted separately from the cleaning, spot by spot, after we've looked at it. Point it out at the walk-through or send a photo and you'll have a price before anything starts. Real ranges, not teaser rates. Every home is different — square footage and carpet condition change the number. Call and a real person gives you an honest price before we ever show up, not a surprise when the technician is already in your driveway.

Questions

Common questions

Is stain removal included in carpet cleaning?

Ordinary spots and traffic soil come out with the cleaning itself. Specialty stain removal is for spots that need extra time or a specialized process, and it is quoted separately so you can decide on each one.

Can you remove a stain that has been there for years?

Often, yes. Age makes some stains harder, especially if heat or the wrong product has set them, but it is rarely the deciding factor. We will tell you what is realistic after we look at it.

Someone already tried to clean it. Does that matter?

It can. Store-bought spotters and rental machines sometimes set a stain or spread it, and some leave a residue that attracts soil. Tell us what was used and we will work with it.

What if the spot comes back?

Use the spot out bottle we leave to lift it off the fiber tips as the carpet dries. If that does not do it and the spot was paid specialty work, call within 30 days and we come back and touch it up at no charge.

Can you remove water stains?

Yes, and we do it constantly. The brown or grey tide line a spill or leak leaves as it dries is soil and minerals carried to the edge of the wet area. It responds well to treatment, and it is one of the most common specialty jobs we do.

Ready when you are.
